Homecoming & Reunion Weekend 2008
All alumni are invited to return to campus for this activity-filled weekend. From alumni sports games, lectures, student-led tours, and special exhibits, there is certain to be something to interest you! New this year:
- Beloit swag! During recent inventory checks, we've found many Beloit items from the past, most printed with class years. We'd rather these items find homes with Beloiters than stay in storage. Stop in the Alumni Hospitality Center during Homecoming & Reunion Weekend and help yourself to our Beloit swag while it lasts!
- Little Bucs Workshop: In addition to Saturday evening childcare, we are now offering a Little Bucs Workshop on Saturday from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. for children 12 years old and under.
Visit the Homecoming/Reunion web site for up-to-date information and to register to attend. |

News on Student Loan Consolidation
For six months starting July 1st, graduates who have variable interest rate federal student loans have a chance to consolidate those loans and lock in a low, fixed 3.61 percent interest rate. All borrowers with non-consolidation federal student loans that were issued before July 2006 can benefit by refinancing their debt. Recent graduates, especially, can get the lowest rate by consolidating during their post-graduation, six month grace period that takes place before student loan repayment begins. Bill Behling Memorial Prize Fund Established
Bill Behling was Beloit College's beloved "Food Dude" for over twenty years. Bill made a king-sized impact on countless Beloiters during his time as director of Dining Services. To honor his memory, the College is establishing a prize in his name. The Bill Behling Prize will recognize other outstanding college staff members who enhance our students' Beloit experience. The Behling Prize will be given annually to one staff member who shows the same energy, friendship, and encouragement for students that Bill exemplified. We are now building the fund that will endow the prize. The goal is to raise $25,000 by the end of September. If you’d like to contribute, you can donate online at www.beloit.edu/billbehling or by calling 800-331-4943.
A Bill Behling Memorial Fun Run/Walk will be held during Homecoming & Reunion Weekend on Saturday, Sept. 27, 2008 at 8:30 a.m. All proceeds from the event will benefit the prize fund. The cost of entry is $10; all participants who pre-register will receive a t-shirt. For more information and to sign up contact Audra Cooke, 608-363-2301.

Beloiters are Virtually Everywhere
Staying connected to Beloiters across the globe has become easier with Web 2.0 social networks. Whether you opt to be a part of My Beloit, Beloit College's own social network, join our communities on Facebook, MySpace, and LinkedIn, or participate in other virtual communities, Beloiters everywhere are just a few clicks away. If you belong to any of these communities, look for the Beloit College Alumni group or start your own virtual Beloit alumni group!
For those of you with Facebook accounts who would like to join the Beloit College network, but don't have an edu email address, sign up for Beloit's Email for Life. When you sign up, you'll get an email address that ends in alum.beloit.edu that will automatically forward emails to your personal account. |

The Chapin Scholars Initiative
In the fall of 2007, the challenge of growing support for student scholarships lead to a new opportunity: the Chapin Scholars Initiative. Chapin donors were asked to increase their gift by $1500 to provide additional funding for Chapin Scholarships. The leadership of Chapin donors is evidenced everywhere on campus, whether it be through support of the Beloit Fund, the library, athletics, or any number of other important areas. Chapin donors were encouraged to continue to support the things they value but were also asked to consider an additional $1500 to support scholarships for deserving students. Read More
If you have questions about the Chapin Scholars Initiative, please contact Chapin Society Coordinator Jenifer Allen’05. |
